couple of questions
1. tell me about the 6 gun tuner. i wanna put it on my christmas list but i wanna know about it before i do. how does it install? is it something i can do or something i need to have done? how is it on the transmision? what are the 6 different levels it has? is it worth the money? if i do get it should i get the PDA computer thing it comes with or just the ****? does it really give you better fuel mileage? is there a differtent/better alternative to the banks 6 gun tuner?
2. im considering getting an exhaust. my girlfriend says my truck sounds like a school bus. i agree but only to a certain extent and either way i love the sound of the diesel. but i agree that all diesels could use an exhaust. what are everyone recomendations for exhaust. im looking cheep(cheap? idk how to spell it), legal, and for a nice deep/throaty sound.
3. not necessiarially that i want it...but what are people doing that makes their trucks throw serious black smoke?
4. my girlfriends brother has an 06 hemi. yes i know his truck has more horsepower. he thinks it has 345 horse cuz its a 345 or 347ci...whatever it is it doesnt have 345 horse. he also thinks his truck has 400 something ftlbs torque. i dont know and id really hate to believe him cuz thats quite a bit. he does have an intake and ehxaust on it. and he swears he has more hp and more torque than my cummins. my truck is an 03 cummins and it has the 250hp motor. but how do the cummins and the hemi compare in torque. i dont see it possible that a gasser with an exhaust and intake has more torque than a diesel. so im just lookin to find out for sure so him and i can stop talkin sh*t to eachother and just know the facts.
5. what are some cheep(cheap?) mods i can do for power/fuel economy? or what are the best mods for a diesel?
6. the guy i bought the truck from said to use this additive. i think its called diesel plus. he said use it every fill up to condition the fuel and for better mileage. is this true? on the bottle he gave me it says the fuel savings outweights the cost if the additive. does anyone know if this is true? or if this stuff really works? should i continue to use it or is it just a waste of money? is there a better additive that anyone here has had experience with that really works and that would be better for the money? the stuff i was given and told to use is like $17 for 96oz at advance auto parts

Dont know much about the 6 gun tunner, have heard of a few guys running them. I've had the Edge Juice w/attitude and currently have the TST powermax. Liked them both but prefer the TST.
my only experience with the diesel exhaust is a straight thru 30" magnaflow & cat delete... egt's dropped, low end torque dropped, sound level went up and fuel mileage dropped. Added the Aero turbine 4040 where the cat used to be and sound level went down, egt's stayed about the same, low end torque went up and hiway mileage went up.
smoke on demand would be a nice thing... gets rid of tailgaters quick!... I'd like to know how to set this up myself.

cheep mods you can do include the tone ring mod which advances the timing some and will give you more power and better fuel economy. a drop in air filter from AFE is another good starting point.
check out the Drews Brew thread tacked to the top of this forum... I use it and it gets me 1~1.5 mpg better than when not using it. some get up to 3 mpg better. the motor smooths out when compared to not using it.

Can you please enlighten us noobs why you prefer the TST vs the Edge?
the edge has 5 main settings with 5 minor settings available when using the attitude monitor. meaning you can set it to #1 mileage and adjust the low rpm fueling with levels 1-5 on top of that. the main power levels are pretty much fixed with minor tweeks (minor settings). the attitude monitor allows you to monitor boost, egt's, intake air temp, tranny slippage, coolant temp... and a couple of other things that I cant think of. it also allows you to change your tire size for use with oversized tires. it doesnt change the speedon setting on the dash, it changes the readout on the attitude monitor. it also will defuel if there is an overboost, over temp (egt's) or slippage situation. this can protect the tranny while using the lower levels... 3 is the max for non-modded tranny or clutch.
the TST has 9 different levels for both torque and HP. allows you to adjust HP #'s by 25 hp per setting IIRC and torque is 50 or 60 ft lbs per setting. does not protect against tranny slippage but will de-fuel if the egt's or boost get to high.

Hemi 345 horsepower (5,600 rpm) and 375 lb-ft of torque (4,400 rpm) from 5.7 liters (345 cid*)
Cummins 250 HP @ 2900 and 460tq @ 1400 (if I have my engine right)

steve how come you perfer the TST over the edge? how the prices compare? how is the install? does it really help the MPG and power? do they come with some sort of digital read out to tell you the EGT and the boost level and all that jazz?

I can tell the edge how much torque to add & how much HP to add. the edge is a great box with it's built in guages & adjustablilty however the adjustability is in smaller steps per performance level.

Wow. So between 03 and 06, the 5.9 Cummins when from 250 HP 460 t to 325 HP and 610 t? I know in my 06 that is complete stock, it does not take too much coaxing to induce a LSD burnout. I am sure with a tuner, it is hard NOT to do a burnout =).

ahhh...this programmer deal is confusing the hell out of me. im looking at websites for different ones and idk how to compare them or anything. its driving my nuts but i really want one. but like i said i just dont know which one. im basically looking to moniter the EGT's the boost level the HP and TQ and get some "on demand" power/torque and then tone it down again when i dont need it but i also dont wanna harm my tranny or anything else. which programmer would you recomend based on what im looking for steve? i dont mean to put you on the spot but i need a good direction to head in.
