Default Remote Start

I am looking at getting a remote start system with security for my 06 CTD. Will the remote start work on my truck? I am looking at the Viper 5900 SST 2 Way Car Alarm
With Remote Start System. The website is Viper Alarms. Does anyone have this system, or a similar alarm installed. Any input would be accepted. Also, how would it work with the 06 keys?

It will work as Shark said. It won't in a 07 though. You will lose one of your factory keys.
One has to be integrated into the Viper system for the door locks. then you just use the viper remote to enter.

So I guess i would just have 2 clickers. The one built into the key, and the viper controller. So in otherwords I will have a 200 dollar truck key that isnt good for anything?

WOW! that's how much those keys are. I didn't know.

Yep, you're probably right. You wouldn't need to use the key buttons because of
arming ( lock ) and disarming ( open ) with the alarm clicker.

Well, you could always go with the factory alarm. It probably does use the key.

Well I like the Viper system and the remote start stuff. It has settings for diesels that "waits to start", and it will be pretty cool having a clicker that looks like a walkie-talkie. I will just have to have two remotes. That is going to be one expensive set of keys. :-)

If you look at that website I am pretty sure it says something about it. It might be on another website about that system. I will look and may edit my post.

Edit: It says Diesel mode with dedicated glow plug input. I am guessing that means it will let the engine warm up before it starts it. Read the website it has lots of cool things on it.

It does wait till the glow plugs heat up, just like putting the key in.

If you look at that website
Do you have the website addy? I already have a Viper alarm system in my truck, but there's no way ( that I know of ) to delay the start. I'd LOVE to find out if there IS a way though.
