Default Front Receiver Hitch

So I've been looking for a front receiver hitch for the truck.

So far what I'm finding is the usual suspects that are frame mounted and come under the bumper. Not really what I want.

Next you have the Bodiak hitch that clamps to the tow hooks. Not what I want either, as I need the tow hooks to use as the anchor point to double or triple line the winch.

So here is what I'm thinking of making. I'm relatively handy with a welder and have all the crap to do it, minus materials at this point, so that's no issue. I'm thinking some 2" receiver tubing and 5/16" plate is gonna be plenty stout.

It's gonna mount to where the tow hooks are bolted on, leaving them open. It'll be pretty much in line with them, just leaving enough room for some air flow to the lower portion of the coolers. I want it as low profile as possible, so it doesn't look retarded.

Gimme a little feedback.

It'll actually be on the outside of the bumper.

It's gonna bolt to the same spot as the tow loops and come across the front.

Curious - why do you not want it under the bumper? I have mine there and it's not been an issue - and in fact with a 4in. lift it keeps me from having to use some massive drop hitch in the event that I need to push a "normal" height trailer around...

Mine is primarily gonna be for the winch, not the trailer. I never once used the front receiver on my SD to move my trailer. Besides my next trailer will be a GN, so that kinda puts that one out.

What I want is the most direct connection to the frame (as in strait line) as possible. Also, it raises the winch up a little higher that it would be if the hitch was under the bumper.

Where I'm looking at putting it, it will give me a direct pull to double or triple line the winch, if I needed to.

I also want to avoid drilling the frame in any manner to mount it.

Here was how I had it setup on my last truck. It worked out well.

Cumminalong,

Nice idea. I am throwing around the same as I would love to get a winch on my truck. I'd like to get it done without forking over 2k on a custom bumper. Have you looked into the Warn Trans4mer system? I believe they sell that system either in a fixed winch position mount or a removable, front or back.

Man you either read my mind (I think I saw you blush) or somehow stole my Idea, it was going to make me rich.

No looks just like what I had in mind, bolt on to the tow hook mount, can provide some protection fo the t-cooler I think or oil cooler
[ut a tow hook or a winch plus it would stiffen the front frame a bit and distribute the stress of yanking someone out over both frame rails and not to just one. Plus my stupid polished steel brush bar prevents me from installing the tow hooks. cost it out and make two because I want one too.
