I bidded 299K but the VA kicked that back and told the sellers 282K, to put on a new roof, and a few other things.

I might only have 66 feet faceing the street, but I have almost 400 feet of property line in the back. I love liveing in a culdesack

In the Bay Area a 300K mortgage gets you an outhouse. It's insane out here. My house is acutally 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bath (2500sqft), zillow does not do a great job of updating their records. I stay out here because my profession is mainly out here. I am a Wireless Networking engineer. Houses are such a PITA. Sucking up all of my fun money. Current projects:

Expanding and rebuilding the back Deck (Decks are a must have where I live)
Fixing/Replacing Fences (Sigh)
Building a new smaller deck out frount
Remodel the downstairs Bath Room
Remodel down stairs office
Remove and Replace a hanging Ceiling (dont ask) from one of the bedrooms
Etc
Etc

I should be done when I am 60.

If you think the housing prices are bad up in the mountian, go north a bit into the town of Los Gatos. My shack would have costed 1.5 Mill down there! DOH!

Oh forgot to mention, if any of you all are visiting CA, stop by we can:

-Go to Holister and ride Dirt Bikes (Neighbor has a ton of bikes)
-Ride Street bikes on my mountian rodes (I gotz an R1150R and a Harley Sportster)
-Hit Anderson Damn and do some water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, whatever, (In da Malibu Wakesetter)
-Hit Tahoe (kind of a hike) and go skiing
-Hit the Beach at Santa Cruz for some surfing (if you are into that)
-Go down south to King City to hunt some Wild Boar

I know its expensive as hell to live here, and most people here are friggin nutz but I can stay away from all the outdoor activities here.

I can afford the mortage on my own as well as the power, gas, water, and cable and a few other things. what I cant do after that is my truck payment, the wifey's car and other small odds and ends after the house payment.

if we found a house that we liked for half as much I would have been all over it. unfortunately the smaller houses were just that, a house with about ten blades of grass seperateing them from the neighbors. we wanted some yardage between us and the neighbors, and in the summer I cannot see my neighbors

LOL, no no.

I used to work for Cisco Systems, now I work for Foundry Networks. I help develop and test 802.11 ABGN wireless stuff (Like the wireless you use in your home, but on a corporate scale).

Ok, I wish you'd have gotten pictures of all that.

Jeez you rich folks...() I only have a little 2200 square footer in a Culdesac (Drew's right, they are nice)

After covering all our bills I can't get everything I want <sigh> on the flip side though, I get no complaints when I want to get something...

Of course , toys really aren't the important thing when it comes down to it.

yar, that's me Drew.

GA, you are exactly right. Having toys does not mean you are happier. Best thing I have is my two year old son.
