Mayfair, the heater will always be covered in coolant. It is mounted low in the engine water jacket in the middle of the engine. As for your pole, its bent

I ran a 10 gauge extention cord from a triple tap in the front, all the way to the rear and installed a Hubbell box.
What is a "triple tap" ?

Thanks Jake, but why would you need a triple tap for a heater plug? It's only one plug.

So it IS coolant that is being heated. I wasn't sure if it was coolant or oil.

Why wasn't it registering on my gauge when I got in? What does heating my coolant have to do with my wait to start light? Was I also somehow warming the intake air as well?

Mayfair, I have the engine heater, my battery conditioner, and I may hook up a ceramic cab heater there as well when the temps fall to extremes. I have been contemplating a heater in the cab for a few years now. I am looking for the perfect sized heater.

Adios muchachos........

Nice setup... DD's setup is pretty slick. would suck to pull away with it installed... one thought came to mind, not sure how hard it would be to make it work but you could put a small switch on the box (DD's setup) and have it tied to an LED on the dash... so when its open & the key is on, the led is on... hell if your really paranoid you can attach a buzzer to it so if you put it in a gear or hit the brakes & the led is lit, the buzzer goes off...
