Default Doing the overhead at 30K

What’s your thought/opinion on running the overhead at 30,000 miles? I have had a Cummins person tell me we should all do this at 30K as he as seen a lot that are out of speck and this should/needs to be done at 30K.

Also had one tell me he saw one at just over 100K and if he did not know better he would of thought the valves had over 600K plus on them as the top end of them were beat to death. Needless to say this person had to have all new valves and other parts including one piston as one valve & piston met each other [sm=badidea.gif]

it's up to you. . .it's not hard to shove a feeler gage under the rockers to make sure everything is still in specs.

Ive got 36K and just from the sound of things I have a little rocker rattle when cold, but once warmed up she purrs

If his valve touched the piston, it wasn't because the overhead was loose. Also with a 24v, the valve stems don't get hammered. The valve bridges and rockers take the blow. I just had my valve cover off last weekend (85,000 and everything looks brand new) but I plan on running my overhead here in a couple of weeks. I say if you want, go ahead and run it, you won't hurt anything and the rocker adjustments won't wear out as these engines don't last that long (350,000 compared to highway trucks with 1,200,000). If you need help you know where to come

Isn't that what we're talking about in your valve cover thread?
