More CELs for XMAS!
Sigh.....
The long and the short is I am not going to use my EB heater anymore.
I came out this morning, unplugged my truck (yes it be on a timer), fired it up and was greated with a CEL (non blinking again). So, I headed down to dodge so they could read the codes and tell me whats up. The tech asked my if I had plugged my truck in and I replied yes. It was plugged in yesterday too and I did not get a CEL.
The codes that came up where battery temp sensor and coolant temp sensor. The tech then asked me to stop plugging the truck in. He told me it does not get cold enough to justify plugging the truck in. The temps were I live go down to about 28 to 30. Last night (since a storm is coming) the temp did not drop below 45.
So when I plugged the truck in at temps between 28-32, no problem
When I plugged the truck in at temps 36+ = CEL

yea. . .there are three sensors AIT, coolant temp, and bettery temp that if they dont match temps within a certian % it throws a code. . .besides, there realy no reason to plug the thing in untill you get to around -20F. the grid heater is good to that if you have the correct oil in the case.
So you, Drew, are saying that we don't need to worry about plugging in until it gets -20? That seems like not many of us would have a need to plug in on a regular basis. That will make the electric company disappointed.
the re-flash does address this issue that was common. I am just stateing what the computer is doing. Why DC put that in there is beyond me.
Chris, I am just saying you can start the engine without plugging it in down to -20F, however it is hard on the engine since the oil is so thick at that temp it takes time to get to crucial areas of the engine it is needed. by plugging it up it keeps the engine oil warm to aide in the initial start lubrication.

MrSlug - did you get your unit re-flashed? Drew - I thought the re-flashing was supposed to address this...?

Nor has the dealer changed the ECM program (to my knowledge).
Take your truck and get that reflash! If they hesitate, tell them you'll flash THEM if they don't!

I had this problem last month. Dealer flashed the computer and all is good. I plug in alittle here and there no more light.

Ditto with mine today. Seems to have done the trick.
Mine too. No more problems.
I did have to go back in and have them turn the high idle and power delay back on. When they flashed it, it went back to to default disabled setting.
