Welcome to DF mENTALLYiLL!

Like the name, by the way. I guess we all are a little.

His truck should running at 325 HP and 610 lb/ft or TQ.

You can easily push it up that high in HP, but you have to do a lot more upgrades to keep from frying things.

1 - The transmission won't hold that much

2 - The torque converter won't handle that much

3 - You will have to open up the intake and exhaust. The monster needs to breathe or the EGT's will skyrocket.

4 - You will have to upgrade the fuel system to support it. $$$

5 - Don't add anything until he gets at least 10K on the motor. Get it broken in and everything seated before you pump it up.

What's he gonna use it for?

That thing should have more than enough power for most folks. The stock tranny will only hold about an additional 60 HP. Get him an Edge EZ or Juice with Attitude (kept on level 3 or lower) and it will definitely wake the puppy up.

Thanks for the info :]

Hmm sounds quite crappy that the stock tranny is that bad.

Well its not that he needs the extra horses beacuse honestly, who does? :]

Its going to be used to plowing, "sanding" (dont know the correct english word for it honestly), and everyday work use.

The exhaust i can understand needs to be vented more. The downpipe and exhaustsystem looks to be sufficient but the turbo could be larger.
The intake i belive should be efficient also, maybee just a sportfilter? Or is the intercooler total crap?

Well about the fuel system. I dont really know much about the engine really. But if the fuel pump is mechanical it can be abit tricky to boost it, but if its electrical its quite easy to add some more juice to it.

About the mileage its done about 20000kilometers, wich is above 10k miles.

So tell me, what do you think i should do, since its not my car i dont wanna spend 5k$
Thanks for the reply.

welcome to df...

500 hp could be had from the bullydog crazy larry program, but as mentioned earlier the tranny cant handle it. the current tranny has been pretty good so far for stock or mildly bumped trucks. upgrade the torque converter & valve body and you should be able to handle 500.

if it's going to be used for plowing, you should look to getting the egt's low by upgrading the intake & exhaust. the AFE stage 2 with pro guard 7 filter will help on the front end and any straight thru designed muffler will complement the front end. be prepared for some low end torque loss but it'll definately give a good bump in hp.

Honestly...............

Number 1, Number 1, Number 1 - A set of gauges (EGT, Boost and Trans Temp)

Second, just get an Edge EZ. That'll bump you up about 70 HP & 140 lb/ft of TQ.

A free'r flowing filter and free'r floing muffler. The rest of teh exhaust is fine, 4" all the way from turbo back. Just get a straight through muffler and call it a day.

Edge EZ $350 - 400 (10 minutes to hook up the box, maybe an hour if you wanna rig up the switch nicey in the cab.)

Gauges w/ a nice pillar mount $350 - 450. Installing the pyro probe is the only remotely difficult part.

Drop in filter $60. Intake kit $200 - 300.

Muffler, all depends what you want to get. Obviously for plowing and sanding, you'll probably want a Stainless Steel unit.

Thanks. Might get one of those Edge EZ for him even tho that 70hp sounds abit to low.
But i guess if you are right about the tranny its not worth the bother to add more horses as this stage.

Know a site where i can buy the box for a 2006 model? The newest models seems to be for the 2004?

I'd start here. Not sure how it works for you in Sweden.

A bit low? LOL. That is an additional 70 to the rear wheels not the crank. I am sure the Edge EZ will bring a smile to your face with your foot on the floor.

As for the auto being weak, not sure, but I doubt any stock auto from the big three can handle 500+ HP and the torque that goes along with it for long. If you want to boost up to 500 rwhp (not crank hp) then figure in another 4-6K for an ATS tranny setup after the 48RE blows chunks.
