new 06, love it but......
I' havent had any issues with the cupholders. They seem to hold everything I've thrown at them so far. I've got the same 40 20 40 seats and they are surprisingly comfortable but I'm still considering replacing them at some point. Unfortuneately for my wallet, I rode in a couple of vehicles that had much more comfortable seats and I'm getting spoiled...
I dislike the seats as well.. My 1997 seats were MUCH more comfortable.
It's those darn metal bars that are under my hips.... IF I add a layer of foam it will raise me up 2" and that's not what I want to do.
As the seat breaks is it will just get worse. WHY would thay put metal bars under where you hips/sit bones is beyond me. I'm 6" 215 lbs.. I guess they made em for smaller people or much fatter assed people. Not sure how I am going to fix this problem.

the seat thing does not sound right. you shouldnt have any bar in the back in my opinion, i'd take it to the dealer and see whats up with it.
as for lighting... I added an LED to light up my drop down cup holder since trying to put a 1 liter bottle back while driving @ night started to become a PITA. works great. I have a pic (crappy one with a not so user friendly camera)... have a look.

the pic does not show how well it lights up the cup holder area... it works really well.

Detailed Description
The headline reads "CUP HOLDER IMPROVES FUEL MILEAGE BY 5 PERCENT." The audience comments, "Now I’ve heard it all." While the mileage savings may be fictitious, the Cup-Smoothie (for five- and six-speed owners) will reinforce smooth gear shift changes. And smooth gear changes with a smooth right throttle foot will net better mileage. Hence, the "Smoothie" title for our product. For automatic owners there is not a gearshift lever/cup holder close fit, thus no outlandish mileage comments.
The console mounted cup holder is form fitted to the inside diameters of the console. Using a 1" x 6" Velcro strip, the cup holder attaches to the inside of the console. Extend the console closing latch by turning the latch counterclockwise, close the console door and you’ve instantly increased storage and cup holding capacity of your truck.
Cup wells are 4" deep. The upper 3 3/4" diameter. The lower 2 3/4" diameter. Has slot for coffee mug handle.
'03-'06 Cup Smoothie (Will only fit in '06 Trucks if NON-SPORT)
NOTE: The latch pin is not adjustable on the '03-'06 trucks. You will have to "slam" shut the console lid. Does the functionality of the cup holder outweigh the inconvenience of slamming the lid? Our vote is YES![/u]

Actually the sticker on my F250 FX4 Powerstroke CrewCab KingRanch loaded was 52,000. The sticker on my 2500 Cummins laramie megacab 4x4 was 49,950. So there isnt that much of a price difference. And the king ranchs have a much more elegant look. If you could put a cummins in a ford then it would be perfect. I also got a much better deal on my ford than on my dodge.

As for the seats, I am 6'1 and 230 pounds and I find them to be comfortable. Not as comfortable as my 05 Chevy Tahoe LT, but that is an easy fix.
Check out http://www.trimcar.com/or http://www.katzkin.com/05/FC/mainFS.htmlBoth make really good after market leather. If you can find a good Apholstry shop, then they can give you higher grade foam (not making the seat higher) for more comfort.
I am going with a Katzkins silver and black, perforated after January. Will post some before and after pics.
It's not in the back... it's the sides of the seat where your legs/hips are... Under my wallet on one side if its over to the side more. Well, more on the outside edge of the wallet.
The bar runs fore and aft.. one on each side.
