Draft behind a tractor trailer
I don't think he can draft any semi truck if he wants to drive 68 mph that is unless CA has raised the speed limit past 55 mph for semi trucks. Oh how I love the midwest where everybody drives one speed, fast [sm=gears.gif]

Wow you mean the CHP's are letting them drive above 55. The last time I was in CA about 3 years ago 99% drive 55-57 mph as there was a CHP on the frontage roads most of the time to pace them that and I also saw several stopped by the CHP. So it's about time they let them drive with the rest of the cars and pickups on the road. I know Oregon raised the speed limit for cars and semis 2 years ago but they still have not posted the new limit signs do to a shortage of money or so they claimed this summer when I went back for a visit.

I think its kinda like the 70 in a 65 mph zone... chp's will let it slide. as with anything excess will get you pulled over.

I'm afraid your quite mistaken about the exhaust gas temps of gas vs diesel. Why don't you go look at the exhaust temps in the dodgeforum for the SRT-4. There is a reason why those are water cooled.

what's water cooled, the exhaust???

what are the temps? if you know, care to share? EGT's on the diesels can get well over 1300 deg... some have mentioned seeing spikes/peaks into the 1600's.

I should have quoted the original poster in my last post. The turbo charger in the Dodge Daytona and SRT-4 is watercooled in addition to oil cooled. In the SRT-4 forum guys are reporting EGT's at 1500-1600 during spirited driving, so it isn't cooler than the diesel. The point is that we shouldn't wrap our Cummins turbo because it isn't water cooled and would in fact burn up, not because of gas vs. diesel.

ok, now it makes sense... the diesels can see extended periods of egt's in the 1300~1400 range while towing up long grades... the SRT's wouldnt see that. they'd see spikes in temps as their load demand goes up & down.

That where you need to pretend you are a NASCAR driver and do a little bumping with your drafting! LOL
