Default Loads

I just purchased a Eaglecap camper for my Dodge 2001 3500 4x4 Quad 6 speed diesel. The dry weight of the camper is 3198. Will I have a problem with this weight on this truck, and if so what can I do.
Thanks Tom

You did not say if you had a long or short box. Also do you have duels or SRW on your truck As this info will help others to give you this information.?

I have been told that their should be a tag inside of the glove box with this info on the max bed weight for your truck. In my 06 2500 Short box QC SWR I can carry 2150 lsb. so you may be safe at 3198 lbs. Being it's Christmas time if you don't get an answer by say Tuesday afternoon then give this post a bump to the top so the others who were away can read this post and offer better help.

i think your truck will handle it just fine. it the front or the rear squats more than you like you might want to check out these helper springs. i've heard lots of good things about them.

You may also want to visit the Dodge web site for towing and hauling capacities. I know they were there for my truck, not sure how far back they go. I would confirm an answer before trying it out. Good luck.

I have the Timbren overloads that replace the factory bump stops. Only thing to worry about after that is popping your tires : )

Shouldn't have many problems. Definantly check out the official weight limits, either from DCX or there are others on the net. Try maybe the Goodsam website or the Trailer Life website. My truck is a '05 2 wheel drive dually with the Diesel 6-spd and I pull a fifth wheel with about 3200 lbs of hitch weight. Never had a problem. I haven't looked up the limits on this truck, but my last two duallys ( one chevy and one powerstroke), and they where both around 5400lbs payload cap. Might need to stiffen up the suspension or add a heavy duty sway bar just because the weight of the camper is a little on the top heavy side.

Happy camping

Definately check the weight limit on the tires. I think you'll be OK with some helper springs. They certainly can't hurt and don't cost much.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking shocks and helper springs. I will have to check what my tire limits are
