RE: transmissions
Dodge says the new 6.7 has 350hp / 650 lb-ft of torque with the 6 speed auto. Looks like the rumors of less power are wrong.

Yea that was smart not getting the 6.7 the first year they come out cause they are going to have some sort of problem just like anything does the first year, but those allison trannies are the mack daddy of all trannies. My buddy has a duramax which has the allison in it and his is auto but when he lets off the gas it down shifts like you would wuth a manual. Not only does it help with slowing down but if you have exhaust it sounds really cool too. I heard that those 6.7's aren't going to have as much power as the 5.9's either. And I am pretty sure fuel mileage will be lower in them also.

RE: transmissions
There are not Allison transmissions, the spelling is Aisin (now I;m questioning myself). Anyways, its a 6 speed auto built by the Japanese. So it should be indestructible (look at the Jeep Cherokee Tranny). I was looking at the teardown info, no bands in it (thank you!), very heafty inside. The trans as a whole weighs in at 350 pounds. The new diesel is very similar to the old one, bored and stroked, thats about it. Some new electronics and such, no drastic changes though. Should be better fuel economy, bigger engine in the same size vehicle.
