They charged a friend of mine a shade over $900.00 to do the upgrade to the tank at the dealer. My fuel pump went out last week and left me sittin but was under warranty (WHEW) the tow still cost me $200.00 That bit pretty hard!

I'll be installing a FASS pump hopefully this winter. I'm just not sure yet wether to order the 95gph or the 150. I've heard pros and cons of going with both but I'm still not sure. I AM sure of the FASS though. I just flipped 100K on my truck so I know it's just a matter of time.

whats this FASS pump everyone speaks of? im guessing some kid of alternate fuel pump. if its pumpin 95 or 150 gph how does this effect fuel mileage? where can i check these things out? how is the install? something i can do with some mechanical inclination or should a garage do it?

the reason I mention the walbro pump is it is a less expensive alternative to the FASS pump setup.

so it would be a smart choice to do this mod before my fuel pump goes? and what happens...you just take the pump out of the tank and install the new one and then ur done. just change fuel filters as usual. and i never have to worry about the pump again?

i read the install and it seems fairly simple. but is it actually simple? or is it a PITA?

does anyone have a link for the walbro pump? i found the website but i dont know which pump is for my truck. which pump is recommended the walbro of the FASS?

you can go to glacier diesel and get some prices on the walbro pump.

unless you have already had a new pump installed, the lift pump will be mounted on the back of the filter canister. Normaly with the FASS setup there will be an adapter that mounts to the back of the filter canister to take place of the pump. then you just run the lines from the tank to the pump, then from the pump to the adapter. it is relatively easy to do, just time consumeing.

should you do it before the pump dies. . .that would be the best way, however the CP3 wont die like the VP44. the engine may cut out, but that will be it. replace the pump and you'll be back up and running in no time.

do you need to do it right now. . .dont think so unless you plan on BOMBing the engine.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, but I just found out that BOTH of my pumps are supposedly shot on my 2500. This is B.S.!!! The garage wants $3,000 to do the job. Is he outta line or should I bring the truck home and do the pumps myself? BTW - this is in CT.

I'm thinking bring the truck home, install the FASS kit and then deal with a possible replacement injector pump.
