Honking in Revese
When I was stuck the other day a guy was trying to put the chain through the extremely small tow hooks and i put it in reverse to try to move it back a little bit to rehook the trailer, and i had the door open. Scared the poo out of him lol. He flew up and was quite upset with me. It only honks half of the time while backing with the door open. I think it does it when you are in reverse then open the door.

Apparently it all stemmed from some 'tard filing a lawsuit because he got out of the truck while it was in gear and the truck proceeded to move out and hit something or someone. Again, APPARENTLY! That is completely hearsay, so do ask me to qoute the lawsuit or whatever.
My truck does that also, Is there anyway to disable it? I was hookin up the trailer a 5am right after i got the truck. Damn near loaded my pants when everything started flashing and honking. Is it possible to turn it off?
I had my reverse lights go out to test these I placed my truck in reverse with the parking brake on. My 2006 started honking and making all kinds of racket. I then tried to placing it into drive same results. I just figured this to be a learning curve thanks for saving me another.
It is the park alarm. It is standard on '06 and '07 models with auto trans. If the door is opened while in drive or reverse and you let off the brake pedal, horn will honk and lights will flash. Cannot be dis-abled.
If you have'03-'05 model andyou take it in for service, tell them you don't want it (unless you do). It is not reversible, once it is installed. It is installed inthe programming of the engine controller. They did mine when they were working on something else, I hate it!!!

I discovered that if you flip the door hinge in the closed position it stops it from dooing this it also shuts off the lights and the beeping when the key is in the ignition when turned off. just remember to open the hinge back up before closing it doesn't like it.
If having your seatbelt on disables the "Honking" Than I wonder if tieing the two wires together from your seatbelt buckel that is under the seat would work making the truck think you have your belt on.........................
Not advisable, the seatbelts have retractors built in that fire when you are in a head-on collision. They pull the seatbelts tight to take up slack and hold you back from the airbag.
Also, theairbag module knows whether you are wearing the seatbelt or not with it being buckled up. It then determines how hard to firethe airbag in the event of a collision. If you are not wearing the seatbeltin an accident and you have shorted the wires together, the airbag will fire harder thinking you are buckled up and you could sustain more injuries.
All has to do with the next generation airbags.
Flipping the door latch hinge in the closed position will work. The door ajar switch is built into the latch, that is how it knows the door is open. Just don't forget to flip it back before you close the door. It issome type of polymer and could break if slammed to hard.
