Leaking Oil...
Hey guys! Where is the plastic bottle or container for oil overflow? Front or rear of engine?top or bottom? near what ? I need to check it. Somebody told me is located in the front of the enginebut WHERE!!....I JUST CAN'T FIND IT!! [:@]....not even in the Haynes manual. 98 Dodge Ram 1500 (5.2)
Is a little plastic bottle that supposed to bemounted on the front of the engine? This container catches oil blown out your crankcase vent tube and needs to be emptied every oil change or it runs over. A lot of fast lubes and independent garages don't empty this because they don't even know it is there.
Not sure if its in the same place as my 2001- but mines on the front lefthand side right by the radiator and bumber. Has a hose coming out- look for the oily mess area and you'll spot it. Can't find it? let me know and I'll call my friend up.
HPCR's dont have this bottle, only the VP-24v's do, and then some dont, it was an emissions thing.
however putting a bottle at the end of the blow by tube is something that can be done if you want to keep the underside of your truck clean.
I just hope you are not haveing excessive blow by from a compression ring going out or a cracked piston.

I can seethe oily messy rubber hose in my 1998coming out of the left hand bottom sideof the back of theradiator, not by the radiator and bumper, but this hose is attached to a metal line that goes all the way under the truck[sm=smiley25.gif]
