EXAUST BRAKE?
I have one on my truck, and love it. Hardly ever touch the brakes going thru the winding hills. When towing its real nice, just let off the throttle and listen to the brbrbrbrbrbrbr . After havin it, i dont know how i could drive without it. GET IT its totally worth it. O and by the way, it also helps warm you truck up early in the morning, about twice as fast as normal
I have one on my 06. I haven't pulled any loads with it yet but use it regularly for city and freeway driving. Plan your driving/braking and it will help with saving the brake pads.
Remember- they are not the same units as on the big rigs. These are exhast brakes.

whats the difference between an engine brake and an exhaust brake?
whats the difference between an engine brake and an exhaust brake?
An engine brake releasesthe cylinder's compressed air charge. (This release is what makes that burping sound youassociatewith a jake brake). Thus removing any energy that would have pushed back down on the piston thru the power stroke. The cylinders are also being retarded by the lack of cumbustion. For each piston to have enough power to compress air and fuel, it relies on the previous piston in the firing order. Take that power away from all 6 cylinders, and the engine becomes a compressor. A compressor that is trying to slow down because it's power plant is "offline", )for lack of a better word...lol).
I hope that helps a little.
Good luck with ALL our rides.
