Default My Latest Creation

Ok this is off topic but I had to. Me and my boy just finished our first ever Pinewood Derby car. He wanted to make a truck like mine (proud moment). So here it is. The stuff sticking out of the top are carbide drill tips (for weight). We weighed in and had some trial runs tonight, we were 0.2 seconds slower than the fastest car. I made some adjustments tonight, tomorrow is the big race. Wish us luck.

round off the front. less air ressistance. should look into seeing if u can somhow tuck the tires under the car to make it flush. polyurathane wheels with ballbearings work best.
highschool project.
oh and make it as low as possible.

Well we took 4th place. Not too shabby for a first attempt. The wheels and axle (without bearing) and location are mandated by the Boy Scouts. Next year we will round it some more and do more testing before race day. All in all it was fun.

there are "kits" that you can get that produce Fender flairs (flares?) and such to reduce the resistence over the wheels... I imagine if you look hard enough you could even find a "Ram" kit... might cost a bit, but would be pretty cool (plus, you could put it on your dash or something when you're done racing!)
