Default Taller tires=more or less mileage on the CTD?

I think I am running 265s now. Would taller tires help mileage or kick my ***? I seem to be getting 16 for all around mileage now.

being a jeep guy (90 cherokee, yes i'm gonna get a cummins as soon as i get the money...poor college kid) this question is asked all the time, and yea, it'll affect your milage, AND ur speedometer is going to be off (i go by 10%). I went from about 29's to 32's. Long story short, yea, i'm pretty sure it'll lower your milage.

larger rotating mass to move(and stop), also it will effect the overall gearing of the truck. . .it will lower the mileage, but not by much depending on how big you go.

I went from 245/75R16 to 265/70R17. I would think for a cummins it wouldnt make a big difference in taking off but when your cruising its less rotations to equal what you used to, so I'd see better milage when your cruising. But either way I doubt it drops the cummins more than a few mpg

I'm running 315/70 17's. It will lower your mileage some. In the future I will probably run 285 or 305's. The 315's rub a little without a lift.

i put 35 12.5 17's on my 06 with just a level kit. no rub. PLENTY of room even doing some crazy articulation tests on snowbanks scaring the bajesus out of my girl.. and the people in the parking lot i was doing it in... id even say 37s would fit no prob... also i have NO milage drop
i was getting 15 16 ish before 15 16 ish now. same driving habits. soooooooo i dont know why people are losing 1-2 mpg im getting the same??? i just changed the manual tranny and trasfer case from factory atf+4 to royal purple syncromax.. ive only driven work to home 2 miles and it seems to shift alot better! well see if i get a milage increase????[8D]

I am running a 3" kit up front and 35X12.50 R17, with a 10" wide wheel I rub at the locks. I found that you will rubif wheels wider that 8" are used. Because of this I was able to sell my wife on a 6" superlift for my ride. Will post pics after complete.

I went from 245/75R16 to 265/70R17.
That's exactly what I did as well. The mileage may have dropped off, or my speedo may now be off, but either way they look a heck of a lot better than the ole 245's did.

I went with 305 65 R17's. The Speedo reamains accurate and I have notice no drop in MPG. Unless of course I use Stage 3 or higher for raped ape mode.
