So if I added it up right they charged you $94.95 for your oil change? Heck I see Dodge send out flyers for a LOF on a diesel for $39.95 + tax. Yes I will say that is a rip off as you can buy Amsoil 15w40 retail for $25.70 a gallon and as Drew said Genos has a good price on both filters. Now in the winter time I do have the dealer install my oil and filter and I have them lube the front U-joint and they only charge me $12.84 with tax.

Now $15.80 was a good price for the high idle set up even though some say they get it done for free. I know mine did not do it for free and it was 2x more then what it cost you.

we get 15w40 here for $10 a gallon. castrol, chevron. etc

the local oil shops want $65 and up for dielsel oil changes. + all the enviro charges...

Hey Guys,
I'm new around here and also new to Dodge CTD. That is allot of money for an oil change! I hope I made a good decision with my lifetime oil change. I bought my truck through Lithia and I can get a free oil change every 3k miles, it was just under $600 and I figure it covers it self in about 6 oil changes at the price listed here...

First....Welcome the DF! You'll have fun in here.

If you do the oil changes yourself, it only costs around $38 - $45, using the dino oil. Now, if you're going for the sexy synthetic stuff, then yeah your prices are gonna be higher.

Plus, you don't change the oil on these every 3K. 7500 milesis routine under fairly hard use. You can push that to 15K with light use or synthetics.

Changing at 3K on these is money down the drain.

Figure that you can go 2 1/2 times the distance between changes on the CTD vs a gasser. So realistically, the oil change prices are even or LESS than a gasser under normal maintenance.

my diesel mechanic (CTD specialist) says change oil every 6k or 6 months. says it in the haynes manual too.

I went 8k on the last change. oil still flowed like water (engine was nice and hot!)

AEmedic the oil changes are so pricey do to the 12 qts in the block. a v8 gas only requires 5 - 6 qts.

just make sure that they LUBE EVERY WHERE while its in for the oil changes.
