All of them have the auto high idle, this is for warm up purposes.
Even the 2nd gens ??
That I don't know.

On mine it only does it when it's less than 35*'s or so.

Here is what happenend:
The tech claims he put it on then reset the ECM. What do you think happens when you do that?
That's right everything goes back to default.
So I have to go back to have the high idle reset.

What do I need to know to "help" him find this power on/key off option?

After he changes the idle option he has to confirm his choice. The power when you shut down is called delay something, power off delay? something to that effect. I walked thru it with my tech also. If he'll let you work with him, it's not rocket science. You can figure it out.
