Default Look What I found

Found this while doing maintenance.
Anyone care to speculate why this happened.
This was a Airraid dropin with 10 K miles on it.
When I saw this, I pulled everything off and thourghly checked everything else out.
Nothing got past the filter This is all on the bottom before the intake.

I mentioned K&N filter in the other post because I've read the suction is so great by the turbo, it will suck the element right out of it. K&N 's are great filters, apparently just not for diesels with turbo's. It seems that's what happen to your AirRaid. It's hard to believe that it could be sucked through those wire mesh screens but, I guess it can. I would show that pic to AirRaid... they may just warranty it for you. After seeing that happen though....I don't know that I'd want another AirRaid.

K&N filters are about the worst thing you can put on one of these trucks. Do some forum searching on various diesel truck forums and you'll see.

WOW!! I have an Airaid drop in and I am going out right now to check it [sm=escape.gif]

If not an Airaid or K&N, what brand of drop in do you recommend?

if your trying to stick as close to stock as possable, the one I got here from Geno's did pretty good.

why not chunk the stock air box and tube and get a pipe running strait from the turbo inlet to a nice and big cone filter? how come i never see any diesels with cone filters? is it neccessary to keep the stock air box?
