I drove mine to Az from SC when I broke it in. Try to vary your speed on the 4 lane. I ran mine 70 to 80 and no problems at 91,000. Use the brew after the first oil change. most of all ENJOYyoure new ride!!!

I see a theme with your trucks...... Congrats on the new ride and it's nice to see a fellow MN'er here. I live just north of the Outlet mall in Albertville. So, not all that far from Richmond.

From what I have heard, take it easy for the first 500 miles and after that, load it up and let 'er rip.

Congrads on your new ride.
Like the previous poster advised, just vary the speed on the superslab and you shouldnt have any trouble.
Enjoy the trip.

After you have 500 miles on it for the rear axel brake in, if you can load 1,000 lbs in the bed and enjoy your trip. I broke mine in this way except my wife and I drove it for about 33 hr's non-stop except for fuel. A good long trip like you plan on IMHO is a good way to break in an engine in.

Oh the first time I used any thing in my fuel was Lucas and I only had 380 miles on it and then at 1100 miles I went on to use 10-14oz of PS and 8oz of MMO and got great mileage. My over all mpg average for my 4500 mile trip was 18.5 mpg and like I said I had about 1,000 Lbs in the truck, between what was in the bed and 3 adults and luggage.

Good Luck and have fun.

10-14oz's of PS ?

I'm mixing 16oz's of PS along with 8oz's of MMO for about a 25 gallon fill up. Am I adding too much?
IS there such a thing as "too much"?

Mayfair,

No your OK with what your adding. I used less PS as in the winter time I keep my fuel tank above half mark at all times as I don't live in town and one can never tell when you may need to use a lot of fuel, that and its12 miles to the nearest place that sells diesel.

First 500 no hotrodding but do use the whole RPM range and vary speeds. After that load her down with some weight or a heavy trailer and drive normal. The more you work her the faster she will break in and get better mileage ect. Enjoy your new ride. If your experience is anything like mine has been you'll love your new truck. Oh if it sat for a long time you may want to change the oil soon.

I have 200 miles on my CTD, I have a small 5x8 enclosed single axle trailer. I was wondering if it would be alright to run 200 miles with the trailer with 600 pounds in the trailer? or am I pushing my luck? Thanx
