RE: damn codes set
Ok let me sort this out for you...
P0216 - Fuel Injection Pump Timing Failure High fuel supply restriction, low fuel pressure or possible wrong or incorrectly installed pump keyway.
P1693 - DTC Detected in PCM/ECM or DTC Detected in ECM A Companion DTC9 was set in both the ECM and PCM.
Basically 1693 is just telling you there is more errors in either PCM and/or ECM controllers thats all...
The 216 error means the advancement piston in the VP44 pump isn't working correctly any longer. The VP44 can no longer advance the timing as need. Normally seen in the morning there is a lot of white smoke from the lack of timing...

RE: damn codes set
so how do you bleed the fuel lines on thi motor? on the macks you use a lift pump, (hand primer) and pump till it get hard (pressure) and then crack open an injector line nut going into the head untill its straight fuel, no bubbles..then tighten it up...same for this truck ?

Here is the process from the book...

Basically I would loosen the banjo bolt (#3 in Fig 2) and bump the starter. Left the fuel flow till the air is out then tighten the banjo bolt.
Then crack 1, 3, and 4 injector lines. Bump then starter again. Let the pump run to push some air out of the pump. Then try cranking the engine. When it starts to fire shut it down and tighten up the injectors line... Then start the engine... Leave it idle... DONT REV! let the pump clear itsself out of air. It will sound rather nasty and off beat...
