Default Questions for veteran SRT 10 Owners

Hi,

I purchased my black ram srt-10 about a month ago. I have just went over 500 miles which is to say that I have pretty much taken it easy.

I do not know of anyone else who has one so maybe you can help. I understand the 8.3 is a high performance engine obviously, but the engines has a rough idle, (reminds me a little bit of the huge cam I had in my 440 Dart. I just want to make sure that everything is ok and no missfires, etc. I know there has been a few truck made with cam problems, I checked VIN with recall and my truck comes up clean

also, what "engine" temp does your trucks run ussually? When I was just cruisin I happened to glance down and it was just a tad over 200. Normaly its right at or just under 200.

I love the truck, but the exhaust sounds like hell at idle, what do you think? I really do not want to make any changes yet..but........

Any, please help me out.

The rough idle is normal, that's what I've been told anyway. The V-10's just have that trait to them. If you did have a misfire then the SES light would be on and the PCM would set a DTC for it. Your temp is right on also. There is a range that the engine temp will operate and the PCM controls the cooling fan. As for your exhaust I would look into the Magnaflow cat-back system.

1,500 miles on my red Ram SRT 10...rough idle is normal. Temp sounds OK.

Keeping my exhaust stock for now.

Enjoy the ride!

I have not heard of anyone installing a Gibson system yet. I have the Magnaflow and I'm happy with it. The fit and finish is excellent.
