Lightning vs SRT-10

its a DODGEFORUM...were going to side with...get this...the DODGE.
short block and long block...i dont even know what you guys are talking about...a short block is when you buy a block with the bottom end only..a long block has heads, etc.
i do not agree with dodges refusal to produce a sports vehicle that doesnt have the bulky V10..and i think that it is very gimmicky. "look at us, we have a V10 in our performance car/truck"..however, at the same time, there are guys on this forum with very little done to the SRT4 which only has 4 cylinders that will pound the new stang. and about the forced induction, i think its a bit funny that ford refuses to produce anything with any ***** without the aide of forced induction.
the SRT10 is a bum in the QM stock, but guys have gotten them DEEP into the 12s just by taking the ridiculous rims off and putting on some decent tires, and that is somethign that ford cant say. take a last gen blown lightning and put slicks on it..put the same slicks on a stock SRT10....that half second gap will grow quite a bit.
also, the SRT10 was built to be an all around performer, not just a QM monster, and it will handle the lightning across the boards, stock for stock.
a few of the lightning flamers that have come on here and started trouble tried linking their timeslips, by which i am rarely impressed .

anyways.....im done with this forum......have fun driving you family cars around thinking yall actually have cars that are fast....a viper is one thing....it at least was originally made to be a street beast.......but a 4 door 4cyl car.......come on now.. at least the japanese make their motors to last..my motor may not last as long as a japanese car or a European car but at least it actually has muscle to back it up....if u wanna be fast but dont wanna spend the money on a 8cyl get a damn motorcycle and kill urself............ u mention u can buy your car twice for what ford owners pay for Cobra....ever heard the saying "you get what you pay for"......in the real world thats true.....keep living in your lil 4cyl fantasy world

My first post. I am obviously a Lightning owner. Have been for about 3 months now. I am also a big fan of the Vipers and the big Viper powered trucks. I think it is awesome they slapped on of the biggest and baddest engines around in a truck (SRT). Do I prefer mine, well yah, but that is why I have a forum (several actually) and you guys and gals have a forum. I like the competition from other brands. I know there are cocky L owners and there are cocky Dodge owners too. Call it even.
I have met a ton of Dodge owners. Hell my best friend has one of the quickest Vipers around. I participated in Viper Days down at Sebring in May and even bringing a Mustang up, everyone was really cool to me and I had a great day of racing ( I had the 8th quickest time in my class of 16). Enough about that though.
What I don't get is the "if we put a supercharger, or if we used the bigger motor" talk. Any of the major manufacturer's if they WANTED to build that kind of vehicle, they could right? They didn't and we the consumer are left to buy the best of what is put out. SRT owners pay a ton of money to say they have a Viper Motor in their truck. A TON of money. SVT Lightning guys pay a hefty chunk of change for their trucks too. Albeit a lot less than you dodge folks. However like was stated, the aftermarket has been very good to us and we can go really fast for not a lot of money. Can we go faster stock to stock, usually no. dollar for dollar? Yah, you bet. But that opens up the mod issue and I don't really want to hash over that subject that has been beat to death for as long as there have been cars. I respect the SRT owners and their vehicles, except maybe the ones who want to turn up their noses like my 5.4 is some kind of old t-top camero and I am sporting a mullet or something. That's when I turn the bottle on and more than equalize MOST (not all) situations.

5.4SVT - Welcome! It's nice to have an L owner come here because you are an enthusiast, and not to just bash the SRT-10. I too have never agreed with the "if Dodge used a supercharger..." stuff. If Dodge used a SC then Ford could use another 2 cylinders and so on. I have always liked the L but I ended up with the Ram and love it. They are both great trucks!
