6 speed in QC
Ok guys.... I know that I will probably get some bashing for this but if you knew me then you would understand.
I am torn between both the QC for the extra room wich is important because I have 4 kids but I want the 6 speed for the fun and performance factor. Has anybody done or heard of putting a 6 speed in a QC SRT10?

I don't know of anyone who's done it. And I don't know if it would be worth it or not. The QC's cost more than the regular cabs already. Dealers don't seem to be as willing to come off the sticker price as much on the QC's either. You would end up spending way more on this set up. You could end up with as much as $10K-$15K more invested than if you just bought the RC to start with. That's alot of cash just to support the fun factor. There are already some good mods out there for the QC's that have them running as well as a RC (PCM Flash, auto tranny mods).
On the other side of the coin though, I can understand why you want the 6-speed. It is a hell of a blast to drive. Reminds me alot of driving my 4 speed 1970 Chevelle in high school.

I could do the work myself if i could just find a good write up on it but I understand what you are saying. The autos first of all rob probably 3-5% more power than a manual. I would assume that the final drive gear is not as good in the auto as the manual which would in turn make it run harder down the highway which will be what this truck does most of the time anyway. Banging gears just makes it feel twice as fast and "seem" more impressive when you side step it a little too. Either way... I can't wait to get in it auto or not and as soon as the new wears off then I may look into such a project a little harder.
Where can I go to look into the PCM flash's and other auto trans shift improvement upgrades?

986, first off, start by going to www.srt10forum.com then do a search on PCM flash. You will get all the info you need there. Good luck, looks like you already have great taste, so I'm sure you'll end up with the fastest color!!
I've been trying to get on there all day but have not been able to. Maybe they are just having some sever probs.
Well black has always been my first choice but I looked at a silver one today and damn did it look good. Maybe I won't have to wash silver every freakin day. I spend 20 to 50 bucks a week on my current truck depending on the weather.

Yeah, the server was down for most of yesterday.
Listen to these guys. They're steering you in the right direction. Some of the QC guys with the above mentioned mods seem to be running better on the drag strip than the RC guys. Launching these 6 spds is tricky at best. But, I love to throw gears since I'm on the street 99.99999% of the time.
Now, if you really want to go fast you ought to think about getting a red one!

I'm not sure about the red... I am leaning more towards one of the greyscale colors. Black is first choice and silver is very very very close second but the choice will probably depend on options and price. I actually drove a 6 speed yesterday and will drive another one today. Damn are they fun!!! 3rd is a long tight throw and seems like it could be a problem on the track but probably nothing a shifter can't fix. I was right though.... the manual FEELS like it has 100hp compared to the auto. I think I still have Perma-Grin like Enzyte Bob!

I got a whole new pcm that has the stage 2 flash from DC Performance. I think they work with B&G Chrysler who actually developed the flash. By purchasing a 2nd pcm I can throw the stocker back in for any warranty work.
I am not sure who to contact on the tranny mods, as BigAsp suggested try searching for them on SRT10Forum.com.
I still get the grin on my face every time I take the truck out for a spin. Banging the gears is definitely where it's at for me.
Oh and the 2-3 shift is no longer an issue once you get used to it. Just takes some stick time to develop the right technique.
Either way I am confident you'll enjoy the truck.

I agree with that, nobody in their right mind would buy a red truck! LOL, if you take a look, Big Asp had to go and throw on the STS Turbo on his truck so that he can feel as fast as the black ones feel stock! LOL, J/K Big Asp, I'm actually really jealous of that setup, you lucky sob! 986, the site is up now, they did have probs yesterday or the day b4, can't really remember.
