Default Problems with my SRT-10

Hi
I have a 2004 SRT-10
I took an oil sample from the gear box, and send it to a lab. for analyze.
They said it was contaminated with silisium.

And when i drive it has a sound, like whining... Its also somethimes hard to shift gear.
Is this something you have heard of before, is there something i should or not should do..????

I also have some problems with the stearing wheel, on the left side on the spoke, it suddenly felt soft like the leather where falling of and the rubber seems to melt away..
Im affraid the whole steering wheel are falling appart. Have you ever heard of this?

Last Question. When i drive at low rpm like 800 and push the trottle, it seems like the differental between the engien and rear axel have a slack and you can hear a bang.. Is it suppose to be like this.

If anybody have any similar experience or some hints of what to do I be happy to hear from you..

Jens

a few things...do you have alot of mileage on it, and do you "beat" the truck, or drive it very hard?

i am not certain on the whine, but you think that its coming from the rear diff, or the trans?

second, i have seen steering wheels do this. do you live in a very hot area where the wheel is exposed to alot of sunlight? i have had one car that the steering wheel grip got "mushy" from the constant heat...can you sort of rotate the grip of the wheel around the inner core?

as for this last question, it almost sounds to me like you have a bad universal joint..

Last check was 6000 miles.

No I dont drive it to hard, but afterall it's built to be driven hard..

And the steering wheel that you describe is just what happens, but I live in Norway, so I cant complain about to much hot weather

it very well could be that the wheel just wasnt assembled properly...do you have a warranty? i thought that they carried 3/36, but it may vary in other countries...as for that diff. whine/ clunk...if not for the whine, i would guess that it is the drivetrain...but with the whine, it could be something internal...i am obviously not familair with norway, do you have dodge dealerships there, or reliable shots at which you can have a US market vehicle serviced?

None of these problems are normal. Did you buy it used? How many miles? The Dana 60S rear end should be virtually indestructable with a stock engine. The rear end shouldn't have affected shfiting. Is it the 2-3 shift that is that problem? That is normal. Many, including me, have upgraded to the X Metal shifter. It works great but adds a little trans noise inside the cab which doesn't bother me. Never heard of a steering wheel having a problem like yours either. Your last problem does sound like a u-joint and that's easy to check but with the rear end acting like it does there could be something wrong inside of it. Hope you find the answers.

Cluncks in the drive train could be anywhere with you have a 2004 that has been driven and has 525ftlb of torque. The torque, combined with5000+ lbs of weight means things can break somewhat easily.

Clutch, tranny, drvie shaft, rear. It would be a guess for someone to give you an answer.
