Transmission doesnt shift to next gear when kick down!
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 Van 5.9 360 cui ! 35000 miles on it!
[align=left]The Problem is that when ever i kick down to the floor it doesnt shift up to the next higher gear but stays inthe gear it is and revs to the limit when reached end of rev band ! I have to lift the foot a little and then it shifts to next higher ! It does that at traffic lights (stays in firste gear unless i lift ) or on highways when overtaking ( Maybe down to second gear )unless i lift it would stay in second untill death !!!
Now what sensor or or whatever is broke or not working? is it in the transmission or a fluid problem or what could it be at all!???????????
Thanks for Help!!!!

yep, it wont shift into a higher gear floored, because the lower gear generates higher torque which you are telling it you want by flooring it. if you want something that shifts when you want it. trade it in for a stick. or maybe get someone who knows how to drive.
Well a tranny thsat doesnt shift up when in deadmans red land and staying there forever making you die while overtaking another car is dangerous and not sensfull -sorry guys it doesnt even shift back to higher geaar while in cruise controll after climbing a little hill!! I have to hit brake and excell by foot on hilltop to not make it stay in low gear although already even flatland again ! it would stay in low gear and rev like hell altough no hill climb anymore : This is a funny Tranny!!!!!
Might have the fluid changed and see if they find a peice of metal part in there. One tranny I know of did have and the shop replace the part that it came from and solved his problem. Now though the problem is back and it is getting worse.
Does anyone have an idea as to what the part was? The were able to replace it with out removing the tranny.

Alloro and Igadget have alot of knowledge about these van's and the computers systems that run them. I respect them both and several other memebers on this van & Dodge forum!
You changed the system of your van by replacing parts of the exhaust system, and you may have made other changes as well. That changes how the computer will operate, and the life you will get from the engine and transmission.
Flooring the throttle each time is not a good way to get this engine to last a long time. This van of yours is not a Viper or Corvette and is not designed to perform as one.
