Default 1996 Van 2500 NO Firing!

HELP Please! I have a 1996 ram van 2500 5.2L. While going traveling down the highway the van shutoff and has not started since. We have found that we are not getting any fire to the plugs. From what has been tested or replaced: crankcase sensor, rotor cap, pickup(plate) under cap. I was told by a mechanic that the ECM cpu was bad, that has been replaced. My service engine light does not come when key is turned on...all other lights come on. I have also switch ASD with the other fuses and check all fuses. Only two problems I have had prior to this happen, my ignition switch would turn to further than normal and my key get stuck in off position. Could the ignition switch cause the no fire? Also ECM has been check...is not comunticating with unit!

What about the coil? You didn't mention that you checked or replaced it. With the key on, are you getting power from the 2-wire plug that goes to the coil?

Default Check light not coming on?

If you are not seeing the check light come on for a few seconds when you place the ignition switch in run. Then battery voltage from the switch is not making it to the ASD and fuel pump relays and therefore no voltage is being passed to the injectors or the coil. I had this problem a while back and thought it was the ignition switch but it turned out to be the PCM. Since youv'e replaced yours I would suspect the switch but it could be one of the relays or possibly the wiring. Advance Auto had my ignition switch for about 45.00. Good Luck

I think when Im getting voltage to the ASD, but not to the coil. When you mention relays...do you mean the relay fuses in the box...??

Also will the steering wheel have to be removed to install Ignition switch?

Default ASD is a relay

First, relays and fuses are discrete items. No you do not have to remove steering wheel to replace the ignition switch. Buy a Haynes manual for your vehicle when you buy the switch.Make sure you read the cautions regarding airbags if your truck has one. If you're going to do your own work, you should look in to a Digital Volt/Ohm Meter (DVM). Radio Shack is the place to go for this. They also have a book which is very helpfull.
You will need a Torx screwdriver to remove the covers on the steering column. I believe a #20.

Thinking about the voltage to the ASD....I want to say that they were getting 12 volts to the ASD. Would it be a ground??
