95 Ram Van B1500 3.9l Water Leak -strange location- question
If you look at the picture of the gasket set I posted at the beginning of this thread, you can see the gasket pieces and seals for the front of the oil pan. Unfortunately the set you got must not include these. If you had gotten the set shown in the picture, then you would not have had to remove the pan. But hey, if you have leaks there anyway, at least you're getting your arm twisted into repairing them. Once you're done with the project and being all aggravated over it, you'll probably be happy that the whole pan gasket was changed.
Thanks again -- I think I have enough clearance height wise (used the hoist to raise the front), now I'm working on dropping the y-pipe to get the lateral clearance I need. And yes I will be so happy when this is done.
Just wanted to stop back and thank you for your help. I finished it a few days after my last post but I have been insanely busy. It took me forever but I think a lot of that had to do with it being very cold and windy so I didn't really get to put in full days. I also wasted a lot of time trying to get the tranny to mate back to the engine. Turned out I had to drop it back down and push the torque converter back about 1/4", it must have slipped forward onto the input shaft.
Once that was done everything went back together beautifully. And no leaks for the most part. I still have a leak by the shift solenoid gasket (at least thats what I would call it) but I am having trouble finding the part # to order the gasket. Otherwise everything is bone dry.
Thanks again !! There is no way I would have made it through this without the extra help.
