You should check with your insurance company. They likely have glass places they deal with on a regular basis and trust.

get out the phone book and do some shopping. then call your local JY for the price on a used one.

What I did, I saw a guy putting in a windshield so I asked what he'd charge on the side to install a windshield for me. Well for $50 he pulled a good one from a junk car and put it into my good car. Over the past 20 years, he's done all my glass. Just last month he put a brand new windshield and new gasket into my 1997 B2500 for $150.

Nice! You can't beat that deal with a stick.

did you manage to figure that out on your own or did someone tell you to go to them? that's a plenty fair price.

self dependency is a wonderful thing.

watch them install and you'll see why it isn't something for the amatures. I'd never attempt to do a windshield... after seeing what it takes to do it right and how important the glass is to the structure of the vehicle...not for the novice. (primarily applies to glued in glass IMHO)

Check with you insurance company. My state has a no chip or crack law so the insurance would pay for the full cost of the windshield. Ask your insuance company what the cost for you would be. If it is alot you could still follow what the last post have said. It never hurts to ask.

I refuse to ever call my insurance company about anything... my wife creamed a deer and I didn't even bother to call. first, even though they claim they won't jack your rates, they will. 2nd, it was her fault she hit the deer, why should I take money for her error. It only cost me $30 in color match paint, some free parts I have laying around and a couple hrs labor to get it back in perfect shape.. that's why rates are stupidly high... you never get a free lunch...someone has to pay for it. there is no such thing as an 'accident'. it's a collision and all collisions are avoidable, it's up to the driver to determine how to avoid a collision.

I only carry insurance to protect myself from lawsuit happy a-holes.

When the cost of a new windshield is under $200 it isn't worth my time or rate jacking to have my insurance company get involved.
