Default 02 B1500 ignition problems, please help

I have been having problems with my dodge van for 2 months. It always ran perfect, then 1 day I took it to the car wash, and it died. Started right back up, and didn't really worry about it. Then 2 weeks later, it wouldnt start. I didnt do any tests, I just changed the ignition coil. It started right up, and I didnt think about it again until a week ago when it wouldnt start again. This time I checked for spark on the main lead coming from the coil. It was intermittent. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and it was fixed. Drove it for another week with no problems, then, in the morning, wouldnt start. I checked the forums and figured I would change the ignition pickup coil. That fixed it for another week. And here we are today. I checked the forums again, and cleaned all the grounds under the hood, and checked for 12v+ between the neg post on the battery and the wires going to the coil. Got nothing. And now Im stuck. Please help....Thank you

Bad ASD relay, ignition switch, or PCM.

The dist cap could also be wet inside. That will cause a no start problem too.

I checked the distributor cap, it is dry and newer with no corrosion. i dont know what the asd relay is. are there any tests to determine which part is bad before I keep replacing.

The ASD relay is in the power box under the hood. Try swapping it with another one under there for testing purposes.

Default No luck.

Swapped the ASD relay with the AC relay, still no spark. there are no DTC's. Im starting to get frustrated. I dont want to take it to the mechanic, he is just going to replace parts until it runs again....

Since your problem is intermittent, the best thing you can do is hook up a test light to the ignition wire and drive around. When the engine quits, see if the light is on or if it died with the engine.

OK. Figured it out. When I got home from work, I took the dog house off and cranked it over just for kicks. I could see the coil, and there was a huge spark jumping from under the boot coming from the coil! Changed the wire and it runs perfectly. Thanks for all your help!
