Well I took the dash apart again and took pictures of everything. Maybe you guys can see something I can't. Again I found nothing corroded or broken or unplugged. I could not get the plugs off but was able to pull them off far enough to inspect the pins and none of them are broken. The plugs themselves have no broken or pinched wires. So far nothing seems to be broken yet my speedometer does not work the majority of the time. So should I spend the $50 and get another speed sensor? And if that don't work change the speedo itself? Thanks again for any info.

If the odometer continues to work when the speedo does, replace the cluster. But if both the speedo and odometer stop working at the same time, replace the speed sensor.

BTW, quit biting you nails, it's a bad habit!

Ok I'll change the speed sensor and see what happens. Whenever I get the money for that I'll let you know if that fixed it or not.

Solder the contact pins to the PCB like I suggested. It couldn't hurt, and it's easy now that you have the cluster apart.

They already have pretty good solder on them. I also could not get the plugs off so I'm not going to put a heat source by the plastic plugs. Thanks though.

The harness contact pins do not come from the factory with solder reinforcing the outer circumference at their base to the foil tracers on the PCB as in my picture and description. Perhaps you have missed the point of my recommendation.

Whatever, it's all good.

I get what you are saying. Maybe I could help my brother out. I know how to solder pretty good. I just took the dash out of my 92 without any problems. I had to change some lights. My speedometer works but it seems to be fast. about 10-15mph fast I think. I only have 30" tires in rear, it shouldn't affect the speedometer like that.

These van speedos are not dead accurate by a long shot. My TomTom GPS displays speed while driving and my B2500 indicates a steady 6MPH slower than the GPS reports, and I'm running P235/75-R15 tires all around.

When I use the GPS in my Lexus the speedo readout matches the TomTom exactly.
