Default New proud Dodge owner! What is the floor vent on the drivers side?

Just got a 97 Dodge cargo van and am looking for a place to hide a car alarm. Saw that big void in that side vent but am not really sure what it does. Figure it must be a outside vent or blows off the system? If it's just a outside vent I might put the alarm in there.

Seen a ton of online stuff about the tranny in this thing. Has the 4spd auto. Is it really anything to worry about?

That's a awesome idea. I didn't even know you could do that. I think my alarm wires might be long enough also. Time to tear it apart.

How do you route the wires over to the drivers area? Looks like their might be enough room on the backside of that black duct work near the firewall?

And on a off topic note. Could I use the e-brake instead of a park/neutral sensor input. It's a automatic. Seems like should be safe to only start with the e-brake on. Not sure if it's safe to tap that circuit though.

That vent is the air intake when you're on Max A/C. With Max A/C on, the cabin air is recycled instead of drawing from the outside. Well 90% is, you have to at least 10% fresh air according to federal safety standards.

I have a remote start, keyless entry, alarm system installed on the driver's side under the dash and it fit. You just have to be mindful of the wires as you install them. Don't leave a lot of extra, route them neatly and you'll be fine.

Not if you're also installing a remote start. Reason being is that the RS could start the engine if it's in gear.

Thanks for the info! Anyone find a door switch wire closer than the kick panel on the drivers side? Shouldn't be to bad to run a wire up to the pin though.

Found the horn relay over under the glove compartment box! Now I can just hit the relay right there for the horn. Nice!

You don't really want to use your horn for your alarm signal...do you?
