Default What now?

I've got a 00' Ram Wagon 3500 96k on it. I got a CEL and the code was P0305 Cylinder #5 Misfire. I put in new NGK plugs and new wires, dist. cap, rotor and filter (for the hell of it). It stayed off... For a day or two. Now it's back with the same code. I'm wondering what the next step I should take is.

Thanks,
Bill

A problem came up like this a few months ago. Do a forum search under Ram Van and read how it was fixed. I forget the title, but it did deal with engine misfires.

Is the fuel injector a 12-year old original one?

I don't know for sure. My guess would be yes though...

Then you might want to consider that the injector is worn out.

New bit of information I guess. The light has been off for a few days but still running rough. Today I was stopped in drive for a minute or two after backing up, (was waiting to follow a friend) and the CEL came on again. It stayed on everytime I started after parking somewhere. Just a little while ago, I was parked at a slight side incline. I started it and the light was off... Does this narrow it down anymore as to what it's likely to be? I just want the light to either stay on or stay off. Someone help please!

Thanks,
Bill

It would be great if you could pull the codes when the CEL turned on after sitting still in drive for those few minutes.

I don't personally own a code computer. The few times I've checked it I've used a friends. I'm thinking it's still the Cylinder 5 misfire. I could be wrong but it seems to be idleing rough and P0305 (C5 Misfire) is the same code I got before and after changing plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

If you think a $40 code reader is expensive, try replacing a good $70 fuel injector.
