Yup a 97' was the wiring and computer I'm after since it is OBDII (programmable for aftermarket cam) yet it does not have the central timer module system (digital odometer etc). So ONLY the 36RH? Will I find one in a 97' Ram or Dakota?
Any ??RH tranny system should work. The ???H means the tranny is only hydrulic, not electronic controlled. You should be able to find one in those vehicles.

I have only heard of an A904, AX-15, NV3500, and NV4500 so I am not familiar with them. Any automatic transmission in 97' will be an RH series or?

NO. Most were OD tranny's which have the E instead of the H at the end of their model number. You will need to look at the dash for the OD on/off switch to the left of the steering colum on the dash panel to see if the donor van has OD or not. If so then skip it and look for one without the switch. The spot will be closed off. If you find an open hole then be carefull that someone has not removed the switch for their vehicle.

Oh oh I see, yes I am very familiar with the switch location and such. The NV3500 and NV4500 do no use OD correct? (not sure if a standard transmission even does I thought I remembered an old Ranger having OD on a 5-speed)

I know -- I was just reminding you that vans came with optional manual transmissions.

I did not know that, Wiki only lists two transmissions for the third gen Ram van; a 3 and a 4 speed auto.
