2000 1500 V6 timing?

Default 2000 1500 V6 timing?

can anyone please tell me what the proper timing is on my 2000 Ram Van 1500 with a V6 engine . The book says look under hood, the hood says look in book ,can you believe it. ive got a major loss of power and trying to eliminate things.Any help welcome .Thanx Jimship

The timing is computer controlled and cannot be adjusted.

Have you tested your fuel pressure yet?

No I have not, but will next. I knew I couldnt adjust the timing,i wanted to make sure the chain has not jumped. But thanks for the fuel pressure suggestion.

The timing chain symptoms for this 3.9L Magnum engine are a rattling noise coming from the timing chain case. I don't believe these use the plastic coated gears like the old ones so unless your motor has over 200K I think you should be looking elsewhere for the issue.

On every '70 - '90 V8 timing chain that I have replaced (with plastic gears) the symptoms are very sudden onset, and engine will either not start or will just barely run at all.

Presumably the computer is smart enough to know what wrong with it if its that far out of tolerance. Have you pulled codes off this yet?

i have. no codes checking fuel pressure cylinder comp., and cat.converter.let you know what i find. thanks. I have check fuel pressure VERY high also i am getting vacume at throttle body when in idle witch the book says i should not.Any ideas. Thanks
