Default Ram Van losing power

Hi Everyone, Got some great help here before when my van would not idle. Replaced the IAC and the TB sensor, the van has run great for almost a year. All of a sudden while I am driving the van loses power and start to back fire. When I pull over, I can rev the engine fine. Put it in gear, and a big loss of power. Limped home today, and was wondering if I should clean the IAC, or do the finger test? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Based on the symptoms you've described your fuel pump could be on it's way out.

Would the fuel pump cause the van to backfire?

Yes, the lack of fuel results in a lean condition and a lean condition will cause backfiring.

It's not hard, just slightly time consuming. It's also a bit stressful because of the fear of explosion factor.

Any place I can get directions on how to replace the fuel pump for a 2003 van? Is the fuel pump in the fuel tank? Could it just be the fuel filter? Thanks

Has the computer stored any trouble codes?

I'd prefer to see measured low fuel pressure before replacing the fuel pump module

On this model can you disconnect the fule pump conenctor under the body near the tank?

If so you can do like me and apply power to the pump directly with a power source to see if humms or shows signs of life.

If so, there is something keeping the pump from turning on, not a defective pump.
