Default Transmission hose strange leak

Hi Folks,

Got a problem with my 1995 B2500 van. The passenger side flexible transmission hose that connects to the radiator has a small leak, its dripping from the black hole you can see on the crimp connector below:

What I don't really understand is why that hole is there in the first place. It looks like an integral part of the crimp connector rather than someone drilling a hole in it, and has a bit of rubber behind it which is obviously loose and letting fluid pass through.

I've searched the web and can't seem to find anywhere where I can find just this flexible hose part without buying the entire hard line plus flexible hose (this is the side where the flexible hose can detach rather than the other side that seems to be crimped on both ends).

I'm in the UK so shipping of the entire section is very expensive. I normally use rockauto who are very convenient to ship to the UK, but they don't seem to sell just the flexible part on its own.
I wondered if its possible to repair this in any way?

Thanks,
Ben

Thanks Blackvan, that now gives me a part number to search for. Google does reveal that Rockauto did indeed used to list that although its not in their current parts list.
If I remember correctly when they are out of stock they like to just remove it from their catalog, so I will email them and ask if they are getting more in.
Unfortunately most other suppliers have very high shipping rates to the UK so I prefer to get stuff from rockauto where possible.

I think temporarily I could cut the metal pipe between the crimp connector and the flange on the push fit pipe and connect a new length of hose as you say with hose clips. As long as I retain the flange on the pushfit end that should work to make sure the hose doesn't slide off.

Thanks,
Ben

you also could take the hose off and go to a welding shop and have the hole welded closed...

I had to do this with my AC Condenser - works great!

Thanks Funair, I've got the hose off now and was actually wondering if I could solder the hole closed. I might give that a try and if that doesn't work get it welded up!

Thanks
Ben

You're right, the soldering didn't work I couldn't get it to stick even after cleaning the metal.
I've applied a rubber strip of hose over the hole and a hose clamp which should hopefully last long enough to find a replacement.
I had thought about an external cooler instead, so may go down that route making this hose redundant.

Thanks,
Ben

Thanks Blackvan, I saw that one once I'd got the part number. Its quite expensive when you add import duty and shipping and totals nearly $80, so I'll keep looking around and see if I can get one cheaper. My repair is dripping slightly so I will need to replace it.

Just changed the transmission fluid and filter today as after messing with the pipe I saw the fluid was a bit dirty and needed replacing. Wow thats a bit of a messy job! Was not overjoyed to see the amount of gunge in the bottom of the pan though, considering the transmission was apparently rebuilt 3 years ago just before I bought it I expected it to be cleaner than that.
