Default Another thing --- Airbag light - help please

Hi all...

Well another thing is now plaguing me. Now it is the airbag light...

I had an issue about a month ago...I do not have a scanner for airbags so I took a chance on changing the clock spring...It worked for about 3 days and it came back...then went away...and came back...

Now it is coming on almost every 30 seconds or so...good timing eh?

There is real no rhyme or reason. It dings on, stays for 10-40 seconds...then turns off. If I was to say, it comes on when braking, turning or accelerating.

Any ideas??? I probably will break down in the next two days to have it scanned for $50...but I wanted to hear if anyone has seen this before...

Also where is the, for a lack of the proper term, the deploy sensor...usually that is somewhere on the core support or bumper...does anyone know exactly where it is???

EDIT -- also does anyone know the airbag codes etc...say I needed a new airbag itself - is there certain codes like the PCM that need to be purchased...it looks like the modules may be the same way too.

Thanks all.

Interesting... Thanks for the info. I have had my Airbag light come on briefly maybe 3 or 4 times in 18 years. Always goes out on it's own. This is good to know in case I ever need to diagnose the problem in the future.

Hi all.

I had to find a used seatbelt. The closest one I could find was out of an 01. According to the boneyard, 01-03 are the same and 98-00 are the same.
I put the seat belt in and have not had one airbag light yet...

So far so good...praying it stays good!

well...IT IS BAAAAACK

I am really stumped on this one...anyone have any ideas?

I am willing to speak to a master Dodge tech if there is one on this board. I am willing to compensate for help. That is where I am at with this van.

I don't want to go to the dealer for a 12 year old vehicle, but it is looking like I will need to if I cannot find help...

Thanks for reading this.

When you first turn the key on, does the airbag light flash out a 2-digit code?

I would have to check again. When I last started it, the light just comes one and then goes off...

I get the warnings when I am driving. It is quite annoying.
Later I will be driving the van -- I will see if it flashes...
Thanks

I drove the van through 3 start cycles. Nothing - no light.

The airbag light is on for 3 seconds after start. It has always been that way and is not acting unusual.

Either I have a weird wiring fault or the BCM/Airbag module has a trace on the PCB going bad...

Any other ideas? Man this is weird

I must've missed something. If the light is staying off, then what's making you think there is still a problem?
