Default transmission problems

I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 van with a 5.2 L and a 46RE trans. The trans is having problems shifting correctly. But, not every time I take off. Most of the time it goes through 1st and 2nd ok, and then I will have to ease it into neutral and back to drive and It catches the other two or three gears. What will fix this? shift solenoid and pressure sensor? Please help......

If it's been close to 30K miles since the last fluid/filter change and band adjustments, then I would start with those.

I was thinking of doing that anyway, but I was really wondering if when I have the pan off, would it be a good idea to change the shift selenoid and the pressure sensor?

If you shift thru 1st and 2nd gear fine and if you continue to drive to 40 to 50 mph, will the transmission upshift to 3rd gear? If it does, look at the kick down cable first and if that is good. Then order a transmission seal kit.
