Default HELP! Problems with flashers / relay?

HELP!

When i was on a litle trip with my 1988 b250 Nomad van today the flashers stopped to work.

Nothing happens when i try to flash right or to the left.

Im also without high beam.

When i drag the flash/highbeam lever towards me the highbeam works as long as i hold the lever, but the highbeamlight does not stay there like it should. Not even with the ignition ON.

My only troubleshooting as yet is controlled glass-fuses inside the right side dashboard, and they seems to be OK.

Can this problem be caused by a broken Relay?

If YES, exactly where do i find this relay?

Where should i begin to troubleshoot this problem?

Would be thankful for help with this !!

/ Best regards / Mike sweden

Soulds like a multi function or turn signal switch problem.

It's probably worn out. You can get a new switch from rock auto. Requires removing the steering wheel to access.

Okay thank u for the advice , its funny,, maybe 30 minutes before it happened, I thought to myself that the lever felt worn and looseness

I changed steeringwheel a week ago and it came a little bit wrong turned, so i should have had to release it anyway, so its nod that bad

Hope it solves my problem

Do you think its necessary to buy both the "lever" and the turnsignal switch, or just the turnsignal switch behind the steeringwheel??

lever / cruisecontrol, washer, turnsignal

turnsignal switch

On my '89, there is a High/low dimmer switch on the base of the steering column. Next to the ignition switch.

There is a rod which comes down from the turn signal lever and activates high or low beam.

I took mine apart and cleaned the contacts, stretched the springs and lubed it so that full function returned to the switch.

I no longer have any major current running through this switch. This switch now just controls relays so i can feed the headlight bulbs alternator voltage rather than 2 volts less.

Much brighter.

Get them both. You don't want to have to take it apart again.

Too late, he already had it apart last week.
