Default 1991 B350 Trailer wire questions

I am attempting to add a trailer pigtail, but i am having trouble identifying where i need to splice in. I cant find a factory harness, but i am not that familiar with Dodge so i may be missing it.

I came here, hoping someone could post a wire diagram of the tail lights and turn signals so i can at least trace by wire color, or help me locate where a factory harness may be located.

thanks in advance for your help

If it's just taillight and turn signal/brake lights then tie in at the two rear taillight assemblies. The wire runs up and along the roof, they do not run down.

if this van had the factory tow package, where would they have tied in. Would they have done a splice on each side the dropped under neath to join as a pigtail, or what? Most Fords have the connector somewehre, even if the buyer didnt ask for the pigtail. ( i know this is a Dodge not a Ford)

Owned a 1989 and the trailer wiring had been cut by a previous owner. If your van has the wiring it would be under the pass side quarter panel or close to the rear bumper.

It is very easy to wire from scratch.

I ended up splicing in behind each tail light pot and dropping the wire underneath. Will put it in some Looming, but there was no extra connector anywhere.

Thank you for your answers.

you know that you will need a converter to make your trailer plug work correctly? 5 wire in to 4 wire out trailer plug...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just replaced a broken one in my 97 Toyota... this one is universal and fit to my Toyota just fine.

What 5 wires? Left Turn, Right Turn, Parking, and Ground.

All of my set ups only have 4 wires. The 5th may be for trailer brake but im not there yet.

last week my B350 towed a 33 ft, 1952 mobile home from Atlanta to Greenville SC. The suspension and driveline hardly knew the trailer was there.

Good to hear, the one ton B Vans I have owned have towed heavy trailers with ease. One question did your trailer have working brakes? I say this as in most states or commonwealths specifiy trailers over X weight must have operating brakes, otherwise you will generally be considered at fault if involved in a accident.

Just a F.Y.I

Enjoy your camper and the remainder or the summer.

non working brakes. This was simply a 'get it home' mission. It will be a while before its towed again on the road. Lots of renovation needed. I will have working brakes before used for any leisure travel.
