Default 1987 Dodge B250 Ram Van Power Fluctuation

Hey guys,

I have a 87 Dodge Ram Van B250, a few days ago I went to drive it at night and when I pulled the headlight switch out the headlights would not turn on and pretty much all of the electronics and lights inside my car would get dim and then bright again constantly. I could hear a kind of clicking or popping that was in sync with the dimming and it was happening in the area of the headlight pull switch. When I turn the brights on though everything functions normally again including the headlights (but only on bright). Today I changed out the 3amp fuse connected to the headlight circuit and it still is doing the same thing.

Any idea where to start with this? Could it be a loose or bad electrical connection behind the switch?

Thanks for you're help!

That would be the first place I would look...... Dodge used some sub-standard parts/wiring on the headlights for a fair few vehicles....... Fires are not uncommon.. Why it only does it on low beams though, that's kinda odd.....

Sounds to me like the headlight dimmer/bright switch needs replacement.

Great thanks for your help. In the process of ordering the new switch, hopefully replacing it will work out.
