Yes... the bald faced hornets. If I could only find the nests! I got a few of them and thankfully it seems their numbers are decreasing.
My cure for those fellers was a 12 gauge shotgun, with birdshot, short barrel, and no choke. The spread at about 40 feet simply obliterates the nest. There is a fine rain of dust, and bee parts. That's it.

I'm sure that will work if there aren't any homes behind the nest. It lacks a certain elan though. One can always get inventive.
Anyone have luck making their own seals for the barn doors? I found replacements for the driver and passenger door, but nobody seems to make them for the others... tons of leakage
Great deal of soul satisfaction though. And I live out in the sticks, so, no danger of hitting anything else.
That's what the guys firing an AK-47 said when they were shooting in a creek bed a couple of years ago. A woman out in her horse barn over a mile away was hit in the hand by a ricochet bullet.

Major difference between a high powered rifle slug, and birdshot though....... after about 100 yards, the birdshot probably wouldn't even tickle.
If you mean the fail-safe thermostats, every single one of those I've put in failed not long after. I've worked on several vehicles that never made any heat in the winter and those had failed fail-safe units too. I go with a regular old style thermostat. I drill a 1/64 hole in the plate and slap it in.

I was raised with firearms from an early age. I even thought about going for the Olympic Biathlon. I could put lead on target just fine. Even at long range over iron sights. That part was a natural. I've never been on skis in my life though so that sort of left me out. On the other hand, I never pull the trigger unless I'm pretty sure where the bullet is going. I once shot a dragonfly out of the air with a .22 at 30 feet on a dare. I felt a bit bad about that as it wasn't a threat to me and I wasn't going to eat it.
