Default 1987 B250 Ram Wagon

Hi,
with the beautiful days coming, I use my AC but the compressor is noisy and the air not so cold. It’s now definitely not cold.
I would change the compressor but now with the new actual refrigered fluid. With a new compressor, do I change others parts ?
Any informations to rebuild my AC are welcome.
Have a beautiful weekend all. Fred.

If you open the system, need to change the receiver/dryer as well. Given the age of your Van, I would also flush the system, and replace the orifice tube.

Should be a bunch of o-rings, and replacing them is a GREAT idea.

orifice tube may be part of one of the lines...... Not sure on that.

what kind of noise? compressors go bad and make noise, so do the clutches on them sometimes. I had a compressor clutch going out that was worn out and slipping (metal on metal contact), making noise (sort of a rapid scraping sound... new clutch, compressor still plugging along after another 100k miles...

Don’t know if a bearing existing, but it’s like a wrong bearing noise. Anyway the compressor don’t blow any cold air. My B250 have 32 years old, probably AC was made with fluid like freon, R12 isn’t it. No way to find a service shop with this fluid, it’s no more authorized here.
I check all the parts needing like Hey You purpose. It’s not nothing on price, can be ok. But the price going up with all the stuff needing to flush and clean the system and add the new actual fluid.
i think going to purchase an electric fan 😀
