Default 1992 b250 blower not working

Hey everyone! I just bought a 1992 Dodge B250 conversion van with the 5.2L motor. Of course it's old and has a lot of little problems. I've never worked on cars very much, but want to try to learn how to fix some of the easier things myself.

Anyhow, here's the first thing I'd like to see if I can tackle: Heat barely trickles out of the dash or defrost vents even when fan is set to highest setting.

I will check the fuses, but if those are good, should I just assume that I need a new blower motor? Or are there some other things I should check first?

Thanks!

Does the blower motor actually sound like it changes speeds when you tell it to? If you have a/c as well, is it just blowing most of the air out the defroster vents, instead of the dash, or floor?

Hi! When i switch from say vent, to defrost, to heat, I can hear the louvers moving inside the dash. The fan just doesn't sound like it's running at all, regardless of fan switch position. The van motor noise is quite loud but i should be able to hear it over that I think. I can feel heat slightly trickle out of the defroster vents when i have it on defrost, i don't feel any change in air flow beyond that trickle when fan switch is adjusted. i checked fuse #7 and i recall it (along with all my other fuses) was good, but will double check. From what I read if the blower motor resistor was bad it would blow but be stuck on high, so I don't think that's my problem, or if it is, I have that in conjunction with another problem.

OK well I still have not dealt with this yet, the fan works a little better when the vehicle warms up, but still is not right.
The blower makes a rapid but quiet clicking or ticking sound. I am guessing the motor has a bad bearing or something.
The followup question is:
Should I just get the motor, or should I just plan to replace both the motor plus the fan wheel?
Do the fan wheels go bad? The wheel does not seem to be available separately.

Usually, I replace the motor and fan blade as a unit. That way you don't have to worry about it being out of balance.
