2000 dodge ram van 3500 sputtering
I am hoping someone can help. I have a 2000 dodge ram van 3500 5.2L 8cyl 4 speed automatic with 84000 miles. When the van is driven, after it has been sitting for several hours or overnight, it drives fine. Once the van warms up and I stop for 15 minutes to half an hour with the engine off, the van sputters, bogs down and makes popping noises when I try to accelerate. This only happens in the first couple minutes then the van runs fine again. If I make another pit stop, it will do the same thing. To overcome the van bogging down I either pump the gas pedal rapidly or press the gas pedal slowly and gently. Two years ago, I’ve changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor and cap, replaced the transmission fluid and filter. Recently, I have changed the PCV, PCV grommet and hose, and the crank shaft sensor. The check engine lights never came on. I am at a lost. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
What brand crank sensor? These motors really don't like aftermarket sensors.
Given your symptoms though, I would more suspect O2 sensors. If they are original, might be time for new ones. (NTK or Denso only please, skip the bosch, another brand these trucks don't like.)

Then later it came back.
I tried for days to figure out what it was. Finally one day I had my Torque App with the OBD2 Bluetooth adapter in and found my Intake Air Temp sensor would peg, ie >160 degrees, and that is when it would ping and cough. I replaced that and never had an issue again.
It was a Delphi brand crankshaft sensor. Maybe I will try the brands you guys suggested. My dodge is not a truck, it is a van. Would that make any difference. I will replace both. Not looking forward to replacing the O2 sensor, they are the original and rusted on tight.

Nope, being a van doesn't make any difference, still the same engine/sensors.
I would think the Delphi crank sensor should be ok, (didn't even know they made them......) Might try running with the O2 sensors unplugged for a day or three, and see if the problem goes away.

HeyYou - I took your suggestion and drove the van with the o2 sensor unplugged and the problem went away. It must be a bad o2 sensor. Thanks for the help. I hope this will fix it.
