Nah, the air cleaner won't make any difference.

 

Check your catalytic converter. I'm having the same problem with mine and I'm getting ready to cut the catalytic converter out and run a straight pipe. I think it's going to take care of the problem. I replace two of the sensors on the throttle body. Make any difference. Let me know how it goes.
