I have a new PCM ( had spark problem, that is now resolved )

Now, occasionally, while driving it it like it only has 2nd or 3rd gear. So I'll be going along, and it will all of a sudden be high RPM, and low gear on me. If I'm lucky, it will magically decide to be in the correct gear, and work once again.

I'm wondering if I have a partially failed sensor, or need to teach my PCM somehow, or could be PCM need to be returned for more programming.

 

What year van? Did the part number for your replacement PCM match the original?

 

2000 Ram Van. Yes on the part number, and I had to send them my VIN to get programmed. I did have to send my PCM back 2 times. Once because I had spark but no injector signal. Other time because it was giving a transmission governor computer error. ( error was on as soon as I started up, without moving )

 

Could be bad VSS signal, but, I would expect that would set a code.... but, not necessarily. Have a scanner that you can monitor vehicle speed, and see what it thinks is going on when the problem presents itself?
